Entry Level Job Placements by SCMWDP through Good Jobs Challenge
The SCMWDP has a federal grant through the Ohio Manufacturers’ Association through what is called the Good Jobs Challenge to help the under and unemployed obtain a “good job” and career pathway in manufacturing. The National Center for Urban Solutions has been conducting grass roots outreach, basic job training, entry level job placements and career coaching for candidates. ICAN housing is also contracted to provide a similar program for Stark County Manufacturers with a focus on the veteran population. These efforts have resulted in 128 individuals being placed in 2024 with 33 different employers in Stark County.

The SCMWDP has Training $$$
Our partnership can assist in accessing state funds for a wide array of technical training. If you need help with TechCred we can help with connecting you to training providers and course selection. If needed, our local training providers or SCMWDP can help walk you through the user friendly state grant application.
The SCMWDP also has funds for other types of incumbent worker training such as:
- Leadership and communication skills for first time managers
- Group dynamics
- Team building
- Other types of training for your staff
